Monash Clinical Biofilms and Medical Device Infections SIG
-
We utilise in vitro assays closely mimicking infection microenvironments, small and larger animal models, and clinical samples from patients to study three-party interactions between invading microbial pathogens, implanted medical devices, and host tissues.
What we do
Our ultimate goal is to develop translatable strategies to mitigate “difficult-to-treat” device-related infections and to improve outcomes for patients receiving medical implants.
Who we are
Our Program incorporates expert scientists and specialist technical staff. We partner with a network of leading clinicians and researchers to advance our discovery potential.
What are clinical biofilms
Biofilm is a typical microbial growth mode encountered in the hospital environment and often lead to devastating consequences for the patient.
