Monash University Microbiology Postgraduate Society (MUMPS)
MUMPS is a student-run society which brings together the postgraduate students from the Department of Microbiology at Monash University for various social and academic events throughout the year.
Although our society aims to foster new relationships, acknowledge the efforts of all students in their research and provide support throughout each student’s candidature, we also run various social events to break up the hectic lives of a postgraduate student. Events include:
- Drink Nights
- Previous drink nights themes include Cinco de Mayo, Christmas in July, Game of Thrones and Halloween
- Morning teas
- BBQ’s
- Fundraisers
- Monthly Journal Club
Updates on our social events during the year can be found on our Facebook Page.
Biannually, MUMPS also provides the opportunity for the postgraduate students from the Department of Microbiology to showcase their research through our Microbiology Student Conference. The next conference will be held in 2018.
Each year MUMPS elects a student committee to oversee the various social and academic events. Our committee for this year includes:
Vice President: Galain Williams
Journal Club Chair: Michael Burch
Committee member: Tom Smallman
If you would like to get involved with MUMPS or would like more information about our society feel free to contact one of the committee members above.
