Embarking on university life abroad can be challenging, but it does not have to be! The International Student Society provides extensive support to ease your transition into life in Melbourne.
“The International Student Committee is a space to support international students here at Biomed. We come from different walks of lives and we wanted to provide a safe and conducive environment for students to mingle and connect with one another. The International Student Committee is truly home abroad. ”
Sendhoran Manokaran
Student President of International Student Committee
"The Emerging Leaders Program is a one-year leadership program that comprises of different workshops where we learn about leadership through panel discussions. We also have interactive sessions we have with our peers.
The ELP is not just about strengthening your leadership, but a way to receive guidance about how you want to develop in the future after your biomedical degree."

"We have a lot of social and musical events. We have events such as bowling nights or trivia competitions, with the Biomed Choir as well. We also have musical and professional performance opportunities like our end-of-semester concerts. A place where you can get to know people and connect with them on a level that’s not just cells and tissues.
The Biomed Orchestra is a fun and inclusive community for sharing music and personal interests. It’s a good opportunity to broaden your uni experience."
Dylan Crossley
Secretary for the Monash Biomed Orchestra
“Peer Mentoring provides incoming first year students with support, especially in that first semester where everything about university is brand new.
Our mentors run catch-ups throughout the semester, our most popular being coffee catchups. They provide a relaxing atmosphere for students to have a casual conversation with their mentors about how university life is going.
We also host events such as BioMed trivia night.
Peer mentoring is really about developing soft skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and sometimes even conflict resolution. We are all about creating connections and building community!"
