Where Learning Inspires

Welcome to BDI, whether you are considering a place with us or are already partway through your degree. The Biomedicine Discovery Institute brings together several hundred researchers working on the biology of human disease, from infection and cancer to neuroscience and regenerative medicine.

Our courses are built around inquiry and case-based learning, so you spend real time asking questions, testing ideas and working through problems the way scientists do, not just absorbing content.

If you are a prospective student, I hope this gives you a sense of what studying here is like: rigorous, connected to real research, and genuinely interested in where you end up. If you are already with us, thank you for being part of it.

Tour the BLTB

Already regarded as one of the most technologically advanced research institutes in the world, Monash BDI raised the bar even further in 2019 when our purpose-built, award-winning $100 million Biomedical Learning and Teaching Building (BLTB) opened its doors. Housing everything from interactive classrooms to flexible wet and dry laboratories, as well as informal and formal teaching spaces, all within an inspiring internal design, it complements our already magnificent facilities and research spaces. It’s design reflects the faculty’s shift away from “traditional” learning methods, in favor of a more innovative learning approach. The building is home to varied types of teaching, including allied health, nursing, and medicine.
