Research
Behind every treatment that improves human health is a story of discovery.
As one of the largest and highest-quality medical research institutes in the southern hemisphere, we're home to more than 120 research teams across seven key research areas focused on global health priorities.
Discovery Programs
Tackling the big challenges in biomedical research is no longer the domain of a single discipline. Can immunity be used to target cancer? Do stem cells offer hope for treating asthma? Solutions don’t work in isolation and neither do we.
Our Departments
We rank in the top three universities in Australia - and top 40 globally. Explore our Departments to discover why.
Our researchers
Our more than 120 specialised research labs are led by recognised leaders in the biomedical field.
Global Change Program
Monash BDI researchers are world leaders in addressing global health challenges. We investigate how global change affects health and disease.
Organoid Program
Using state of the art technologies we facilitate the development and analysis of organoids to tackle big questions in biomedical research.
Advanced Bioimaging
MAB integrates commercial and in-house developed techniques, custom quantitative analysis, and data visualization to elevate research strategies and methodologies in a collaborative manner.
AI-Protein Design Program
We strive to lead the advancement AI-powered protein design technology through cutting-edge collaborative research that establishes world-leading Australian capacity and capability.
Monash Clinical Biofilms and Medical Device Infections SIG
Our goal is to develop translatable strategies to mitigate “difficult-to-treat” device-related infections and to improve outcomes for patients receiving medical implants.
