Eastern Clinical Research Unit
The Eastern Clinical Research Unit (ECRU) is active in research in the areas of education, translational, clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory based research in a variety of areas.
ECRU provides expert service in clinical trials for companies in the health and biotechnology sector, as well as independent principal investigator driven studies. ECRU is involved in more than 150 active clinical trials, involving more than 1500 patients. More than 40 Clinical Trial Coordinators (nurses, dieticians, scientists) work with a variety of investigating groups
- Endocrinology (including Diabetes)
- Neurology & neurosciences (including Multiple Sclerosis)
- Respiratory & sleep medicine
ECRU Translational Research Division, under the direction of Associate Professor Anthony Dear, is the development arm of ECRU which conducts a number of translational research projects in multiple disciplines. ECRU Translational Research Division maintains their laboratories at the Alfred Hospital.
