About Us
The Departments of Renal Medicine and Obstetric Medicine include five haemodialysis units, an integrated home dialysis service, pre and post renal transplantation care, a large dialysis program, eight outpatient clinics, ae in-patient care and a comprehensive service for pregnant women with medical disorders.
Research activities are a core part of the renal service and are led by Professor Lawrence McMahon and his team of researchers. Professor McMahon has been principal investigator or co-investigator on many investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical-sponsored studies over the last 25 years. The renal research team includes several academic staff nephrologists/researchers, five PhD students, an experienced clinical research manager and laboratory scientist. Through ready access to the large patient population, we are well set to engage in clinical and translational research projects.
