Breath Testing Centre

 General Information

Breath Hydrogen and Methane tests are used to determine if an individual has fructose, lactose or sorbitol malabsorption or proximal small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).  A patient could benefit from having these tests if they are experiencing unexplained and unwanted gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and constipation. These sugars (fructose, lactose and sorbitol) are found in many common foods and are a known cause of these symptoms.  A referral for this test is optional and only necessary if both the patient and the practitioner would like a copy of the results.

All proceeds from our Breath Testing Centre goes directly toward further research into the development of new dietary strategies for Coeliac disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We are proud to provide a breath testing service based on the most up-to-date information on procedures and dietary strategies to improve symptoms in these patient groups.
