The course is taught by experienced midwives with extensive and diverse clinical, education and research backgrounds. Our midwifery education and research programs hold the core midwifery philosophy of working with women and women-centred care as their central value.
Our course offers you the platform to develop your midwifery leadership skills, advance your midwifery practice, consolidate your ability to provide quality and safe woman-centred midwifery care, and opportunities to choose a research pathway.
Our advanced midwifery course is offered by flexible mode, meaning you can attend on campus or online depending on your commitments and location.
We offer:
*To enable CSP funding, the Master of Advanced Midwifery is offered in conjunction with the Master of Advanced Nursing. On completion of the required units of study, you will be awarded a Master of Advanced Midwifery.
There is one core midwifery unit and three elective midwifery units. You must study at least two of the three elective units. Additionally, there is a mandatory research and evidence for practice unit required for the Master of Advanced Midwifery award.
Our course explores contemporary issues around midwifery practice, and maternal and newborn health. The core unit explores midwifery in the global context of maternity care while considering the role of the midwife in providing quality care through education, evidence-based research and leadership. The elective units cover supporting lactation and infant feeding (can be used towards IBLCE certification); managing complex health issues in midwifery; and maternal critical care.
