Yes, Monash University will help with this process to ensure an arrangement for integrated professional practice supernumerary hours can be undertaken at your workplace. It stipulates professional indemnity arrangements and is required to be in place prior to practice.
Monash University has affiliations with organisations that can host Monash University NP students to undertake unpaid clinical placement supernumerary hours.
The course can be undertaken completely online OR by attending campus in person. We offer a ‘hybrid’ form of teaching where both groups are given the same opportunities to learn. All contact days are conducted ‘live’ for both on-campus students and online students.
Entry requirements to Master of Advanced Clinical Nursing (M6031) : Nurse Practitioner

** Advanced practice is where nurses incorporate professional leadership, education, research and support of systems into their practice. Their practice includes relevant expertise, critical thinking, complex decision-making, autonomous practice and is effective and safe. They work within a generalist or specialist context and they are responsible and accountable in managing people who have complex healthcare requirements. Advanced practice in nursing is demonstrated by a level of practice and not by a job title or level of remuneration. Advanced practice for the purpose of the nurse practitioner endorsement requires 5,000 hours clinically-based advanced practice in the past six years.
****The student requires a ‘Statement of Organisational Support’ agreeing to provide the student with a minimum of 300 hours of supernumerary integrated professional practice that provides exposure to a range of health care experiences relevant to the students’ learning needs and enables students achievement of the Nurse Practitioner Standards for Practice. This time can be in a paid/ non—paid capacity. Additionally, the student needs to be working in their area of specialty at an ‘advanced practice level’ a minimum FTE 0.6 during the Course.
Checklist when applying for entry into the Master of Nurse Practitioner course: Monash University
The prospective student needs to be working in a clinical position with direct patient contact. The course coordinator may contact the student to make further enquiries regarding their application when required.

There are assignments, iSAPs, online quizzes, portfolios, oral presentations, clinical skills assessments and exams in our course. We assess our students through a range of methods.

Yes - There is a vast range of resources for students including face to face sessions with academic support staff and online courses. We offer SASU for students with ESL (English as a second language).
Successfully completing the course meets the academic requirements for endorsement. The student will need to formally apply for endorsement with AHPRA following course completion.
