Monash Scholars - Choose Your Own Adventure 2026

Monash Scholars Choose Your Own Adventure 2026 Semester 2 Report

On Friday 2 October, Monash Korean Studies delivered a one-hour Korean language and culture workshop as part of the “Choose Your Own Adventure” event organised by Monash Scholars.

The workshop was attended by 14 Year 11 students from various high schools across Melbourne. Led by MUKSRH Hub Coordinator Sandy Nguyen, with support from in-class support students Sharee Zhang and Juhee Uday, the workshop introduced students to Hangul, basic Korean greetings and key aspects of Korean culture.

Students were divided into two groups, with each group participating in a 20-minute session before swapping. Sharee introduced students to aspects of Korean culture, including Korean food, public holidays and Korea’s media exports. Juhee introduced students to the Hangul alphabet, assisted them in writing their names in Korean and taught them basic Korean greeting phrases.

The workshop concluded with a short quiz between the two groups. Students competed to be the first team to answer questions based on the content covered during the workshop.

We received positive feedback from the Monash Scholars team, who noted that the students particularly enjoyed the workshop. They also expressed interest in future collaborations to deliver similar Korean language and culture workshops.
