Mobile apps
While there's no one-size-fits-all process when planning and developing or purchasing a third party mobile app, there are a few things you need to consider.
- Is a mobile app the right tool for what you're trying to achieve?
- On what platform will you build the app?
- Are you planning to charge money for the app?
- What level of branding is appropriate?
- Have you considered IP, privacy, security and risk?
- How will you test and measure the effectiveness of your app?
From a branding perspective, there are several ways to show that a mobile app is part of the Monash suite of apps.
University Marketing, Admissions and Communications are required to review all proposed apps and can provide advice on branding. You should submit your high-fidelity design via the Brand requests form.
Third party solutions
There are many cases when Monash purchases an out-of-the-box technical solution to a business problem. These usually take the form of an external, third party application.
While there are often constraints around how much the visual appearance of these applications can be customised, it must be visually clear that the application is part of the Monash family.
At a minimum the application must:
- include the Monash logo on the top-left
- link the Monash logo to monash.edu
- use colours from the Monash brand colour palette
- use the approved Monash fonts
- be submitted to brand review for approval.
