Meeting with Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Monash University, Indonesia Expresses Support and Achievements Over the Last Year

Monash University, represented by the President of Monash University, Indonesia, Prof. Andrew MacIntyre and President & Vice-Chancellor of Monash University, Margaret Gardner, held an official meeting with the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

Jakarta, 28 October 2022 - Monash University, represented by the President of Monash University, Indonesia, Prof. Andrew MacIntyre and President & Vice-Chancellor of Monash University, Margaret Gardner, held an official meeting with the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

In this meeting, Monash University wanted to strengthen the good relationship that was already established with the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology. Monash would also like to convey various achievements and strategic collaborations explored with various stakeholders over the past year.

Professor Gardner shared Monash University’s recent achievement to Minister Makarim. “We are pleased to inform the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, Technology that Monash University has achieved its best-ever result in the prestigious US News and World Report (USNWR) 2022-23 Best Global Universities Rankings, rising three places to equal 37th in the world,” Professor Gardner said

Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim said, “I am so excited to receive these updates from Monash University. As the first foreign-owned university in Indonesia, Monash University Indonesia has become a pioneer in bringing world-class higher education in Indonesia. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology is more than happy to support Monash University in Indonesia in any way we can. I hope Monash University continues to offer innovative study in Indonesia programs that align with Indonesia’s priority sectors”, Minister Makarim said. The Minister also encouraged Monash University to further strengthen its ties with local university, industry, and civil society organization.

Mr. Nadiem was also informed about the achievement of Monash University, Indonesia. Apart from the campus as been registered as a campus that can accept students with the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), Monash University, Indonesia has been successfully establishing collaboration with the Industry partnership with Traveloka through the Mitra 5.0 program, this program aims to increase the capacity of academic staff to prepare graduates who are ready for a career in the technology industry. In addition, there is also a collaboration with local academic institutions such as Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University in the field of research and academic activities, as well as business innovation training. All of them aim to support social, technological and economic development in Indonesia.
