Monash Indonesia Research Office welcomes Assistant Professors for 2023 Koneksi Project
Tangerang, 26 October 2023 – The Monash Indonesia Research Office (MIRO) today gave an onboarding session for three new assistant professors (research) who will be co-leading the field research and academic publications for one of Monash University’s KONEKSI-funded research project entitled “Building a Model of Future-proofing for Climate Resilience by Engaging Communities (MoFCREC) in eastern Indonesia.” The project aims to support the resilience of vulnerable communities including people with disabilities, diverse women and older people in eastern Indonesia from climate change, with an emphasis on deep community engagement through co-designing a resource kit and policy brief, among others.
As Assistant Professors (Research), Dr Welmince Djulete, Dr Miya Irawati and Dr Yulisna Mutia Sari will co-lead the conduct of research in Makassar, Kupang, Lombok and Sumbawa. They will also co-lead the publications of articles related to Building MoFCREC in eastern Indonesia, in Q1 academic journals. While Miya and Yulisna are based in the Greater Jakarta area, Welmince is based in Kupang–thus, giving her the advantage of being closer to the field research site and its communities.
The onboarding session is co-led by Monash Indonesia’s Vice President (Research), Dr Alex Lechner, and MIRO’s staff members, Christine Gneuss and Auviar Wicaksanti. Co-leader of the project and Chair of Monash Climate Change Communication Research Hub (MCCCRH) Indonesia Node, Dr Ika Idris, as well as Co-researcher of Building MoFCREC and Deputy Director of the Monash Herb Feith Indonesian Engagement Centre, Dr Sabina Puspita, also attended the session. Another Co-researcher of Building MoFCREC and Associate Professor of the Master of Urban Design Program in Monash Indonesia, Dr Eka Permanasari, later also joined the session.
