“This partnership not only broadens advanced academic opportunities but also equips students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an era of globalisation.
“Our aim is to pave the way for academic excellence while contributing to the development of Indonesia's future leaders."
This strategic initiative aligns with Monash University, Impact 2030 strategic plan, emphasising international excellence in research and education needed to address global challenges for the betterment of communities. Through this collaboration, the universities involved aim to contribute to high academic standards, facilitate student and faculty exchanges, and encourage innovation and research collaboration. Recognising the critical role of collaboration in bridging resource gaps, this partnership facilitates a two-way transfer of knowledge and skills, enriching both students and faculty.
By establishing research and academic benchmarks that align with global standards, this partnership is expected to elevate the quality of higher education in Indonesia. The significance of this alliance is further highlighted by Monash University's strong global standing, ranked 37th in the QS World University Rankings and 35th in the USNWR 2024-25 Best University Rankings.
In addition, the strategic alliance offers a unique scholarship opportunity for one academic from each partner university to pursue a doctorate at Monash University, Indonesia. This initiative, in return, will enhance their academic credentials, professional networks, and capacity to contribute to their respective institutions.
A Gateway for Changemakers to Propel Indonesia towards Golden Indonesia 2045
The strategic alliance directly addresses the low percentage of postgraduate and doctoral graduates in Indonesia, which currently stands at just 0.45% of the total national university graduates between the ages of 15 and 64 in the productive population. This figure is significantly lower than that of other ASEAN countries. The alliance enhances educational and research opportunities, equipping students with the skills and knowledge to drive meaningful change in their communities.
Monash University, Indonesia's alliance with 9 local university partners is expected to facilitate high-quality education and research opportunities in Indonesia in line with the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045
