UNPAR and Monash University,Indonesia Forge Strategic Partnership to Boost Academic, Research, and HR Development
UNPAR and Monash University, Indonesia signed the MoU
Bandung – Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR) and Monash University, Indonesia, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, October 10, 2024. This strategic partnership aims to enhance academic collaboration, research innovation, and human resource development, marking a significant milestone for both institutions.
In his address, Professor Matthew Nicholson, Pro Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University, Indonesia, expressed pride in Monash's growth from humble beginnings to its current status as one of the world's leading global universities.

"Monash is proud of its growth to rank 37th globally. This partnership with UNPAR will expand our reach, enabling us to address global challenges such as climate change and geopolitical security. Together, we can make a real impact on both the academic world and Indonesian society," said Professor Matthew.
He also emphasised that this collaboration would not only benefit both parties but also contribute to the development of Indonesian society and economy through joint research and relevant academic programs.
Ibu Tantia Dian Permata Indah also expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership: "Today we signed an agreement with Universitas Katolik Parahyangan. It was a very wonderful occasion, we seek possibilities of a lot of exciting collaborations in the future including the pathway from undergrad to master's degree as well as the fast track program that we were also discussing and PhD program for the academics. We are going to have some exciting collaborations ahead."

UNPAR's Rector, Professor Ir. Tri Basuki Joewono, Ph.D., expressed his hope that this cooperation would strengthen UNPAR's position as a leading higher education institution in Indonesia. He stated that this partnership would not only enrich the academic experience for UNPAR students but also open up opportunities for joint research with far-reaching impacts.
"We hope this collaboration can make significant contributions in producing innovations and research that benefit the wider community," he said.
The MoU outlines several key areas of cooperation, including:
- Joint development of educational programs, such as executive training and professional development.
- Pathways for students to pursue advanced degrees at Monash University, including fast-track programs.
- Collaborative research in technology, innovation, and human resources.
- Community service initiatives that involve students and faculty from both universities.
- Additional collaborative opportunities that align with the objectives of the MoU.

This partnership also provides special benefits for UNPAR students and alumni, including exclusive discounts for master's programs at Monash University, Indonesia, merit-based scholarships, and global mobility opportunities where students can study for one year in Indonesia and six months in Australia.
