Undertaken with key partners from Action Lab, Monash University.

Using experience-based co-design methods, we are using the double diamond co-design methodology (discover, define, develop and deliver) to develop a web based platform that will deliver personalized information on preconception health, using curated evidence –based resources and podcasts from experts and individuals with Lived Experience.

A prototype will be ready for user testing Dec 2024.


Co-creating preconception health content for a personalised digital platform for women from priority populations

Using experience-based co-design methods, we will:

  • Co-develop culturally responsive digital preconception health content for women from Chinese, Indian, Sri Lankan and Middle-Eastern backgrounds
  • Leveraging our partnership with Action Lab, consumer feedback will be used to train tools such as ChatGPT4 and Google Bard, and generate evidence-based culturally responsive preconception health content
  • Undertake user testing and user experience of the resource

Co-designing an equitable interconception care intervention with women from priority groups in the Eastern Health catchment: A pilot feasibility trial

Co-designing an equitable interconception care intervention with women from priority groups in the Eastern Health catchment: A pilot feasibility trial

This project comprises 3 phases:

  • Phase 1: analysing antenatal data for women attending Box Hill hospital or women attending Box Hill hospital to identify priority areas
  • Phase 2: a co-design workshop to develop the intervention focused on interconception care (time period between pregnancies)
  • Phase 3: This intervention will then be trialled among women attending antenatal visits at Box Hill to assess its effectiveness in improving knowledge and awareness of interconception health and effective contraception compared with routine care

Endometriosis

Endometriosis in priority populations: Co-design of resources and dissemination pathways

Project: This project aims to provide culturally integrated and gender-inclusive/gender-affirming endometriosis information for Chinese, transgender and gender diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Aims:

  1. Investigate the understanding of unique beliefs and perspectives around the cause and management of endometriosis for each group.
  2. Co-design and adapt existing endometriosis resources with each priority group.
  3. Determine preferred translation pathways for these resources, including format and delivery methods.

Women’s Health in Malaysia

Women’s Health Network

The research team comprises academics from Monash University Australia and Monash University Malaysia.

This is a research program developed to address health inequities in health services for women in
Malaysia.

An initial workshop, co-facilitated by A/Prof Boyle, Dr Lim and A/Prof Nisha Angela at Monash Malaysia, undertook priority-setting in, women’s health research in Malaysia. The workshop report can be found here: View pdf report

The workshop has led to the establishment of a Women’s Health Implementation in Systems and Equity (WISE) and the National Women’s Health Network Malaysia.


SEACO Reproductive Health

The research team comprises Monash University Australia and Monash University Malaysia’s SEACO HDSS team.

This is a research project developed to co-design reproductive health surveillance with women living in a rural area (Segamat, Johor) in Malaysia, for a Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS).

Reproductive health service mapping, stakeholder mapping and focus groups with consumers, were conducted to understand the users’ need for reproductive health data, and the appropriateness of items in the reproductive health surveillance tool.


Womens Health Incubator (WHInc) in partnership with Action Lab(MUA) and Monash University Malaysia

Lead CIs: J. Boyle and S. Lim

The research team comprises multidisciplinary academics from Monash University Australia and Monash University Malaysia.

This is a research project developed to build capacity for international and transdisciplinary work in women’s health across several low and middle income countriese (LMIC), such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Bangladesh. It involves building research infrastructure through Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS) in these countries.

An Envisioning workshop co-facilitated by A/Prof Boyle, Dr Lim and Prof Patrick Olivier at SEACO Malaysia initiated the business and service process mapping.
