eLearning modules
Do you want to support deprescribing in practice, but feel unsure about when and how to start?
The SUPPORT-Meds eLearning modules are designed to equip Australian GPs, pharmacists, nurse practitioners and nurses with practical skills, structured approaches, and communication strategies to support safe, patient-centred deprescribing in everyday practice.
The modules offer:
- interactive, self-paced education and real-world case studies that explore how to recognise deprescribing opportunities, develop tapering plans for commonly prescribed inappropriate medicines, and contribute to patient-centred monitoring and follow-up.
- high-quality, evidence-based and free education and resources, fully funded by the Australian Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. Developed by leading Australian subject-matter experts, experienced GPs, pharmacists and nurses, and consumers with lived experience—see About Us for more information
- continuing professional development (CPD) from peak Australian professional bodies, including
- Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP): 0.5 hours Educational Activities and 0.5 hours Reviewing Performance
- Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM): 0.5 hours Educational Activities and 0.5 hours Reviewing Performance
- Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA): up to 2 Group 2 credits
- Australian Primary Care Nurses Association (APNA)
- mini-audits that give you the opportunity to reflect on your deprescribing practice and earn further CPD from RACGP (Measuring Outcomes), ACCRM, PSA and APNA.
The available eLearning modules will change over time. Currently available programs are:
- Opioids for persistent noncancer pain
- Benzodiazepines and Z-drugs for insomnia in older adults
