Streamlined synthesis of complex molecular frameworks to access bioactive molecules
Our research focuses on the development of innovative synthetic strategies for the selective assembly of molecular scaffolds commonly found in bioactive molecules. To achieve this, we develop ‘spring loaded’ connector molecules capable of undergoing a variety of thermodynamically driven click chemistry transformations to access valuable molecules that are difficult or impossible to prepare using existing technologies.
Postgraduate students wishing to undertake a research project under the supervision of Dr Christopher Smedley should send a CV and academic transcript to Chris. Prospective industry partners or collaborators should also contact Chris for information on funding opportunities and projects.
