Once you have decided on which semester and which year you want to commence, be aware, you actually start DURING ORIENTATION WEEK of the semester you’ve enrolled in.
For those of you really keen to get started, you can - with the approval of your supervisor - start non-lab work earlier than the orientation week, but this will typically only involve reading publications, preparing your project plan, and perhaps starting your literature review. You will NOT be able to start on actual lab work until you have completed the compulsory orientation week.
NO exceptions: you will not be able to start your Honours research project unless you have attended this first week of research orientation activities. So, plan your holidays accordingly.
