Do we really need 8 glasses of water a day?
Research led by the Biomedicine Discovery Institute's Associate Professor Michael Farrell,revealed the mechanism that regulates fluid intake in the human body and stops us from over-drinking, in a paper published inPNAS. Featured on Australia Plus, part of ABC International, it challenges the popular idea that we should drink eight glasses of water a day for health. This research also sparked news stories at the time of publication in New Scientist, the Sydney Morning Herald, Science Alert, Channel Ten, the Daily Mail, and more, as well as radio segments on the ABC and Radio New Zealand.
