Monash University, Indonesia Welcomes New Masters Students October 2024 cohort in Vibrant Orientation Day
Orientation Day October 2024 cohort was attended by new students, partners, and alumni
South Tangerang – Monash University, Indonesia kicked off its October 2024 intake with an engaging Orientation Day on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The event marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for incoming students across various master's programs, including Public Policy and Management, Business Innovation, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Public Health, and Urban Design.
The day began with a warm welcome from Professor Matthew Nicholson, Pro Vice-Chancellor and President of Monash University, Indonesia. His inspiring speech introduced new students to the university's vision and set the tone for their academic adventure.
Following the opening, Dr. Gabriela Fernando, Associate Professor of Public Health, presented the Australia Leadership Program, offering students insights into developing their leadership skills in an international context. This was complemented by an important session on Sexual Assault & Sexual Harassment (SASH) Task Force and Policy, led by Yuliasri Perdani, a current Master of Business Innovation student and member of the MI SASH Task Force.
Alumni Sharing Session with Ibu Rheidita Kuntoro and Ibu Dian Asmahani as the guest speakers
A highlight of the day was the Alumni Sharing Session, "Pioneering Success: Leadership and Innovation from Industry Leaders." The session featured prominent alumni Rheidita Kuntoro, Chief Representative of Indonesia for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and Dian Asmahani, Chief Corporate Sales and Marketing at Sinar Mas Land. Moderated by Dhian Damayanti, International Alumni Manager for Indonesia, the session provided students with valuable insights into real-world applications of their studies.
Drawing from their own successful journeys, these Monash alumni advise new students to master time management, actively build global networks, maintain a commitment to learning, practice humility, and remember to balance their studies with self-care—essential skills that will not only enhance their academic experience but also pave the way for future career success.
Dian Asmahani, Master's graduate from Monash University, Indonesia, said, "My experience at Monash University, Indonesia taught me invaluable lessons in time management. Balancing work and studies was challenging, but it prepared me for the demands of my current role. To the new students, I say: just do it. Embrace time management, keep learning, but don't forget to take some rest as well. These skills will serve you well both in your studies and future career."
In addition, Rheidita Kuntoro, also shared her experience,"My journey at Monash University Australia was truly fantastic. I had the opportunity to meet friends from all around the globe, which significantly expanded my professional network. This diverse exposure has been instrumental in my current role at KLM. For those aspiring to succeed in both academics and their career, I cannot stress enough the importance of commitment, humility, and continuous learning. These principles have been the cornerstone of my success, and I believe they can be for you too."
The orientation also served as a platform to inaugurate the winners of recent competitions for the Master of Business Innovation, Master of Cybersecurity, and Master of Public Health programs. These talented individuals, now part of the October 2024 cohort, were recognized for their outstanding achievements:

- Nourman Hajar (MCS competition winner)
- Melisa Affandy (MBI competition winner)

After the main session in the GOP 9 Auditorium, students moved to their respective classrooms for a more detailed introduction to their courses and learning structures. They also received comprehensive information about academic services and student support available throughout their studies.
