PhD Program in Drug Discovery Biology
Pioneering Future Therapies Through Innovation in GPCR Science
The Drug Discovery Biology Doctoral Program offers a world-class training environment for aspiring biomedical researchers who are passionate about advancing new medicines. Our unique four-year program is designed to equip graduates not only with deep expertise in their chosen field, but also with a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of the drug discovery pipeline—from target identification to therapeutic development.
Year 1: Rotations and Advanced Training
In the first year, candidates undertake three short research rotations across different labs, enabling hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and diverse research questions. Alongside this, students complete an advanced taught component covering core principles of drug discovery, including molecular pharmacology, chemical biology, systems pharmacology, and translational science. This immersive training ensures a strong foundation in biomedical research while helping candidates refine their interests and identify the optimal PhD project for their final three years.
PhD Project Opportunities
We offer three-year PhD projects within high-impact research teams, focused on GPCR-targeted drug discovery and cardiovascular pharmacology. Students joining these projects benefit from expert supervision, state-of-the-art facilities, and strong translational and industry-linked environments.
