Behavioural principles in teaching and learning

Several hurdles can get in the way of effective teaching and learning. The role of educators is to deliver the learning material in an engaging way, to maximise student outcomes. However, to address the many different behaviours that are involved in teaching and learning, there is also a role to be played by behavioural scientists. Yet, behavioural science insights in education are under-explored.

The current research project aims to consolidate research evidence and audience insights to identify and articulate the behavioural principles that can be applied to teaching and learning, to improve student outcomes. Research outputs include the consolidation of behavioural strategies that teachers and learners can apply in online education, that address both learners’ experience and participation. Research insights will contribute towards a framework for behaviourally informed learning.
