Indonesia Field Studies in Urban Policy and Governance
ATI5069 Field Studies in Urban Policy and Governance - Jakarta

About the Program
The ATI5069 Field studies in urban policy and governance unit is organised for students of the Master of Public Policy and Management at Monash University, Indonesia and the Master of Public Policy at Monash University, Australia. Click here to learn more about the student experience from 2024.
This unit offers field-based perspectives on the policy and governance challenges of urban transformation in developing contexts such as Indonesia. Focusing on Greater Jakarta – one of the world's largest urban agglomerations – the unit offers students a field immersion experience and practice perspectives on the challenges of urban policy making in a diverse, complex, and multilevel governance environment. Students will gain first-hand knowledge of policy problems and dilemmas faced by city administrators in critical sectors such as traffic congestion and urban transportation, waste management, and flood control. Through interactions with local governments, communities, the private sector, and CSOs involved in solving such problems, as well as visits to field sites, students will gain an in-depth understanding of the policy and governance challenges of urban transformation.
Join us for an unforgettable learning experience that will broaden your horizons and challenge you to reach your full potential as a policy practitioner at the forefront of some of the world's most pressing and complex urban policy challenges.
