About the Program
This study tour is organised for students of the Master of Public Policy and Management (Global Studies) at Monash University, Indonesia and the Master of Public Policy at Monash University, Australia. As an elective unit, the study tour is designed to expose students to global public policy dynamics and its challenges.
As the fifth-largest economy and the most populous democracy in the world, India is an emerging global powerhouse. On the frontline of ever-increasing climate catastrophes and one of the worst-hit countries by Covid-19, India is experiencing unprecedented challenges. In this unit, you will explore India’s unique political, social, and economic landscape while studying at India’s leading private university, O. P. Jindal Global University (JGU). This intensive study tour contextualises public policy processes in India and examines the challenges confronting India’s local and national policymakers. You will consider policy responses of the Indian state to key issues and how NGOs, local communities and citizens play a role in decision-making processes.
