SCS is at the forefront of clinical translational research with demonstrated research strengths in cardiovascular disease, inflammatory diseases, nutrition, women’s and children’s health and neurosciences.

Our senior academic staff are mostly health professionals who work closely with colleagues in Monash Health, Victoria’s largest health service.

The deadline for application to enrol in the BMedSc(Hons) degree at Monash has been extended.  SCS will be hosting a virtual 'drop in' Information Session:

Harry Garlick obituary
Obituary to Harry Garlick in the 1992  edition of Chiron (page 63).

Harry Garlick Award for BMedSc(Hons)

Prof Harry Garlick was one of the founding fathers of the Monash University Medical School and an eminent physician. He was the first Dean of Prince Henry’s clinical school which later amalgamated with Queen Victoria Hospital to become Monash Medical Centre. He was keenly interested in medical education and bench to bedside translation of research. The prize was bequeathed in his name to encourage a high achieving student to pursue a research programme in medical science in the Department of Medicine.

Prize amount: $1,000

Students must meet all of the criteria outlined below:

  • Completed Year 4/C prior to commencing BMedSc(Hons)
  • Enrolled in BMedSc(Hons) through the Department of Medicine at the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health and
  • Of the above students, have the highest academic marks for entry into BMedSc(Hons)
