SF-CaMM has a wealth of research expertise and dedicated researchers with strong clinical connections who are experienced mentors for students.

SF-CaMM is at the forefront of clinical translational research with demonstrated research strengths in cardiovascular disease, inflammatory diseases, nutrition, women’s and children’s health and neurosciences.

Our senior academic staff are mostly health professionals who work closely with colleagues in Monash Health, Victoria’s largest health service.

Awarded to the graduating student with the highest impact factor publication or cumulative impact factor from multiple publications arising from a BMedSc(Hons) undertaken at the SCS.

Angela Lin

Shaun Summers Award for Medical Student Research (Value: $500)
Awarded to the graduating student achieving the highest grade for a BMedSc(Hons) undertaken at the SCS.

Julie Boktor

Harry Garlick Award* (Value $1000)
Awarded to the BMedSc(Hons) student enrolled through the Department of Medicine at the SCS with the highest academic marks for entry into BMedSc(Hons). The successful student must have completed Year 4/C before commencing BMedSc(Hons).

Yvette Raymond

David Healy Award for Medical Student PhD (Value: $500)
Awarded to the graduating student achieving the highest grade for a BMedSc(Hons) undertaken at the SCS.

*Prof Harry Garlick was one of the founding fathers of the Monash University Medical School and an eminent physician. He was the first Dean of Prince Henry’s clinical school which later amalgamated with Queen Victoria Hospital to become Monash Medical Centre. He was keenly interested in medical education and bench to bedside translation of research. The prize was bequeathed in his name to encourage a high achieving student to pursue a research programme in medical science in the Department of Medicine. Obituary to Harry Garlick in the 1992 edition of Chiron (page 63).
