Belinda Maher
Ms Belinda Maher is a long-standing Research Assistant in the Blood Cancer Therapeutics Laboratory lead by Professor Jake Shortt. In 2026, she achieved 10 years of continuous service within the laboratory, proving her dedication and commitment to haematology research at Monash University and Monash Heath. During this time, Ms Maher has made significant contributions to the haematology research space through multiple publications. A career highlight is her co-first author manuscript which was published in Leukemia in 2022.
Ms Maher's technical proficiency in the laboratory together with her interest in teaching the next generation of scientists, have also led her to playing a prominent role in training and supervising Honours and PhD students that joined the laboratory over the years.
Ms Maher's current work focuses on exploring alternative therapeutic candidates with potential to treat multiple myeloma in hope of improving patient quality of life.
