Emma Leitinger

Dr Emma Leitinger is a clinical and laboratory haematologist, and medical lead of the Anticoagulation Stewardship service at Monash Health. Her areas of interest include thrombotic and coagulation disorders and obstetric haematology. She is a currently undertaking a PhD on anticoagulants and monitoring in clinical practice, supported by the CSL Behring Professor Heimburger Award, the Thrombosis and Haemostasis society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ) research grant, Monash University, Monash Haematology research grants.

Dr Leitinger was awarded early career researcher awards at the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) in 2024 and 2026 for her work with the Anticoagulation Stewardship program and exploring a universal calibrator for anti-Xa testing. She is an expert advisor for the Victorian Therapeutics Advisory Group (VicTAG) which authored the first Australian Anticoagulation Stewardship guidance document, and for Safer Care Victoria’s multicentre project to improve anticoagulant management and venous thromboembolism prevention.
