A/Prof Katie Walker is an emergency physician at Casey Hospital, Berwick and an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University. She also has appointments at Cabrini Hospital, Malvern.
A/Prof Walker has a strong interest in health services research, innovation, medical technology and information technology advances and is the Senior Investigator of Operations/Health Services Research group. In particular, she undertook the broadest evaluation of the medical scribe role anywhere in the world. She is interested in applying machine learning techniques to emergency medicine to improve patient journeys and collaborates in research on wearable vital sign technology. She develops and encourages cross-disciplinary research and collaboration. She is on the executive of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, Clinical Trial Network.
A/Prof Walker publishes widely and leads and contributes to multiple research projects. She has received numerous research grants and contributes to national advisory committees. A/Prof Walker is a section editor of Emergency Medicine Australasia and the Emergency Medicine Journal. She provides consultation services to multiple health services and industry partners.
