Philip Harraka
Dr Philip Harraka is an early career research fellow in the Precision Medicine Team at the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash University and holds affiliation with the Victorian Heart Institute. His research initiatives contribute to understanding the genomics of breast, prostate, and other cancers, and to large investigations of cardiovascular disease risk in people with acquired age-related genomic changes.
Dr Harraka completed undergraduate studies in Biomedical Science (2013-2017) and obtained a PhD in medical genetics (2022), at Melbourne University. He is an experienced variant curator and a developing bioinformatician. Dr Harraka holds a position with the FDA recognised ClinGen ENIGMA BRCA1 and BRCA2 variant curation expert panel as a biocurator (2024) and previously held a position with the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) as the Victorian committee lead symposium coordinator (2020-2022).
