Sanjeev Chunilal
A/ Prof Sanjeev Chunilal is a full time haematologist at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne where he is the current Director of the Haematology Laboratory for Monash Pathology. He completed his undergraduate degree through the University of Auckland, New Zealand followed by training in internal medicine and haematology through Auckland University affiliated teaching hospitals. A/Prof Chunilal has previously undertaken a research fellowship in McMaster University in Canada with the late Prof Jeffrey Ginsburg .
Returning to Australasia, A/Prof Chunilal has been involved with the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand (THANZ) for the last 25 years. He has served a 4 year term as a councillor, is involved with the Clinical Trials Group and part of the writing groups for various THANZ sponsored guidelines.
A/Prof Chunilal's research interests primarily are in the clinical haemostasis and thrombosis disorders with specific interest in pregnancy related thrombosis. Additionally, he has extensive clinical trials experience in the use of new anticoagulants. A/Prof Chunilal has supervised 2 PhD candidates and 9 research fellows. He currently has 50 peer reviewed publications to his name.
