Zee Wan Wong
A/Prof Zee Wan Wong, MBBS, MRCP (UK), FRCP (Edin), FAMS (Med Onc), FRACP, GAICD, AFRACMA, is the Director of the Oncology Unit at Monash Health and co-chairs its Research Strategy and Governance Group. She is currently a member of the Victorian Cancer Registry Strategic Advisory Group, the Cancer Council Victoria Clinical Network Executive Committee, and the Medical Advisory Committee of The Bays Hospital. A/Prof Wong was the immediate past Head of Oncology at Peninsula Health and joint Clinical Director of the Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service from 2018 to 2024. She was a Board Member of Cancer Trials Australia over the same 6-year period. She brings a rich portfolio of international experience, having completed her postgraduate studies with the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom and a Medical Oncology Fellowship at Duke University and at the Siteman Cancer Centre, Washington University, USA. Her clinical leadership spans continents: she was the Breast Cancer Clinical Lead at the National Cancer Centre in Singapore, where she held several prestigious translational grants and she later relocated to Australia where she was appointed as the founding director of a major regional Victorian health service and took on a teaching role at the University of Melbourne Rural Clinical School.
A/Prof Zee Wan Wong's clinical interests are breast and gastrointestinal malignancies, with a strong passion for patient-centric care and clinical research, as well as for translating research findings into service improvements. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she co-led the Victorian Cancer COVID-19 Network (VCCN) Taskforce and published a landmark survey on telehealth experiences among cancer patients. More recently, she contributed to the Victorian Cancer Service Capability Framework Expert Working Group. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was conferred the title of Associate Fellow by the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators in 2023, reflecting her ongoing commitment to health system leadership and service improvement.
