Climate Conversations: Water Futures and Climate Change

On 13 August 2025, the Hub launched its new series, Climate Conversations—a platform for exploring the pressing scientific challenges posed by climate change, and the solutions that science can offer.

Our inaugural event focused on the urgent and complex question: how do we secure our water resources in a changing climate?

We explored how climate change is reshaping water availability and quality; the threats to aquatic biodiversity and ecosystem resilience; and how science can help harness and protect water systems to buffer climate impacts.

Our speakers were:

  • Dr Benjamin Cook (NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies),
  • Professor Adeline Ting (Monash Malaysia, School of Science and Hub member),
  • Professor Perran Cook (School of Chemistry, Hub member),
  • Associate Professor Ailie Gallant (School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment), and
  • Professor Bob Wong (School of Biological Sciences).
