Why did you decide to study science?
Among all of my high school subjects, biology and chemistry always interested me the most. Despite also being interested in commerce and finance, I wanted to pursue further study in something that would challenge me intellectually and socially.

What made you choose Monash Uni in particular?
I knew I wanted to go to university in Australia and Monash stood out to me due to its flexible course structure. Moreover, I wanted to pursue a degree in pharmacology, and since Monash was ranked #1 worldwide at the time, it really was a no-brainer. I was also awarded the Monash International Merit Scholarship.

What's your favourite aspect of studying science?
Being constantly fascinated by the complexity of the human body as I dive into lectures and concepts.

What has been the highlight of your science degree so far?
Submitting a cell profile report I completed for a developmental biology unit. I enjoyed doing personal research about a cell type, and looking at the final output was really satisfying.

What's the biggest misconception you had about studying science before you started your course?
That the career paths related to science are limited to research and going into medicine. The networking opportunities Monash provides opens students up to the vast options of career paths after science!

If you were to give some advice to someone who's thinking about studying at Monash Science, what would you say?
Do it. Many of the teaching associates are lovely! Classes can get really creative and wet labs are quite hands on!

Give us a life hack or piece of advice you live by:
Firstly, if you’re behind on lessons, focus on doing that week’s content instead of catching up. Secondly. treat self-study sessions like compulsory classes.

Do you have a chosen career in mind? If so, what kind of job are you currently aspiring to?
Not yet,  but I would love to work in clinical, sales, or quality assurance!
