Andrew Strickland
A/Prof Andrew Strickland, MBBS FRACP, is a senior medical oncologist at Monash Health specializing inngastrointestinal (GI) cancers and neuroendocrine tumours. He graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed postgraduate fellowship training at Guy’s Hospital in London. He holds an adjunct associate professorial appointment at Monash University.
He was instrumental in establishing the gastrointestinal cancer clinics at Monash and in collaboration with his surgical and radiation oncology colleagues began the GI cancer multidisciplinary team meetings there. More recently he organised a multidisciplinary team meeting for neuroendocrine tumours, underlining his commitment to subspecialty service development and collaborative care models. He has been the principal investigator on a large number of clinical trials in GI cancer at Monash and enrols significant numbers of patients onto these trials.
His research focus continues with a strong track record of enrolling patients into studies exploring novel therapeutic options. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, has acted as a reviewer for international medical journals, and maintains active membership in the Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG), the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA), the European Society For Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
