George Iatropoulos

Dr George Iatropoulos, MBBS, MSc, FRACP, is a Medical Oncologist at Monash Health with clinical and research interests in gastrointestinal (GI) and central nervous system (CNS) tumours. He completed advanced postgraduate training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the UK before relocating to Australia.

He holds a master’s degree in molecular & Cancer Biology, with a dissertation on chemoprevention strategies in breast cancer, and is currently completing a PhD in Cancer Biology, examining the biology and therapeutic vulnerabilities of biliary tract cancers.

His research encompasses real-world outcomes studies, biomarker-driven translational projects, and the development of precision therapies in GI and CNS malignancies. He has contributed to clinical and laboratory research programs, including biliary tract cancer biomarker discovery, translational glioma studies, and international collaborative initiatives.

As an Adjunct Lecturer at Monash University, Dr Iatropoulos focuses on research that bridges laboratory discovery with clinical application. He remains active in translational and investigator-initiated studies aimed at improving therapeutic strategies while advancing biological understanding of GI and CNS cancers.
