John Olver

John Olver is Emeritus Professor at Monash University and Senior Research Associate within the Epworth Monash Rehabilitation Medicine (EMReM) research unit. As a Consultant Physician in Rehabilitation Medicine, he was the Medical Director of Rehabilitation at Epworth Healthcare, Melbourne, Australia for 25 years. In 2014, he was a Recipient of a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM). He was awarded “Epworth Research Leader of the Year” in 2015 and “Epworth Medical Researcher of the Year” in 2023. Prof Olver's main research interests and a focus of publications (exceeding 120 published articles) concerns the outcomes post traumatic brain injury, management of spasticity and innovations in stroke rehabilitation. As a Senior Research Associate within EMReM, Professor Olver directs and supervises higher level degrees and research projects which span across various rehabilitation areas including traumatic brain injury, concussion and orthopaedic injury. Research projects are focused on promoting core clinical outcomes of rehabilitation including: recovery from impairment, easing burden of disease, managing associated sequelae and restoring patients to pre-injury activity levels.  Find out more from Emeritus Professor John Olver's Monash profile.
