Laura Bird

Dr Laura Bird is a Research Fellow in the Supportive and Palliative Care Unit. She also works as a registered psychologist, with training in clinical psychology. Dr Bird is skilled in neuropsychological assessment, clinical psychological assessment and treatment (e.g., CBT, ACT, mindfulness), quantitative research (clinical trials, cohort studies, online and survey-based studies), qualitative research (focus group interviews, consumer involvement in co-design processes), data analysis, research design, and hospital-based research including recruitment within various clinical patient populations. She has worked across epilepsy, stroke, ageing and dementia, with 13 years of research/clinical experience in multidisciplinary hospital environments. Dr Bird's current and ongoing research is focused on implementing and evaluating digital health technologies, understanding and early identification of palliative care and psychosocial needs among vulnerable populations within hospital, community, and aged care settings, and enhancing the provision of effective patient-centred communication and care.
