Shalini Amukotuwa
Dr Shalini Amukotuwa (MB BS, FRANZCR, M Med) is a neuroradiologist at Monash Medical center where she serves as deputy director for neuroradiology. She is an early career researcher in imaging of vascular diseases of the central nervous system. Dr Amukotuwa's research focuses on stroke imaging, arterial spin label perfusion and non-invasive imaging of intracranial vascular malformations for which she has become an international authority. She has clinical expertise in CT and MR perfusion in stroke as well as arterial spin label perfusion in a wide variety of brain disorders, developed through a combined Clinical Instructorship-Research fellowship at Stanford University in California and 7 years of post-fellowship sub-specialist clinical practice in Australia. Dr Amukotuwa is actively involved in education of imaging specialists in CT perfusion through lectures and workshops. In her capacity as an advisor to stoke imaging software company iSchemaView, she is involved in interpretation of challenging CT perfusion cases to neuroradiologists and neurologists worldwide. Dr Amukotuwa has an interest in imaging technologies and uses her clinical skills and experience to advise the MRI motion correction company HobbitView Inc in her capacity as Chief Executive Officer. As an early clinical adopter of arterial spin label perfusion, she is regarded as a clinical authority on this technique and is frequently asked to review articles for journals on this subject.
