When will I be required to pay my fees?
The course fee deposit is payable on acceptance of the offer. The remaining fees are to be paid prior to course commencement. Once you have enrolled, you will receive your fees statement which will specify the payment due dates for the remainder of your fees.
How can I pay my fees?
Your fees statement/invoice will be sent to your Monash account after you enrol. Payment methods are:
- Online bank transfer
- HSBC ATM
- ATM Bersama/Prima
- In person at a bank
When paying your fees, have your invoice with you as you will need to use the Virtual Account (VA) number that is found on the first page of your invoice. The VA is a unique number to help us identify your payment. Once you have paid your fees, we will send you an updated invoice a few days later, showing your payment.
Are there any additional fees for students?
In addition to course fees, there may be other study-related costs. Depending on your studies, this could be for some activities and materials, such as study tours, field trips, unique technologies, textbooks etc.
Payments made for other study-related costs are normally non-refundable, but refunds may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
Some course units or subjects may require textbooks, which you can purchase new or second hand, or borrow from a library.
How can I check if my payment to Monash has been received?
Students will be sent a fees statement showing their account balance once payment has been received.
What happens if I don’t pay my fees on time?
We place a block (encumbrance) on your student account which restricts your access to services if you don't pay your fees by the due date. An email will be sent to your student Monash email account confirming your block.
While your fees remain unpaid, we'll continue to block your access. This means your access to Moodle, e-Assessment platforms, library services, and enrolment services will be restricted.
You won't be able to see your exam results, request an academic record or apply to graduate. We'll reinstate your access to these services once all outstanding fees are paid.
This can take up to three business days regardless of how you pay. This will delay the restoration of access to services.
If your fees remain unpaid: we'll discontinue your enrolment if you want to continue to study in your current course, you must pay your outstanding fees, including any reinstatement fees, and apply directly to the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Monash Indonesia via mi.enquiries@monash.edu.
You can't enrol in any other Monash University courses during this time. See invalidation of enrolment.
What if I can’t pay my fees by the due date on my invoice?
If you are experiencing extreme financial hardship, you may submit a written application with supporting documentation to Monash Connect.
Any fee extension must conclude before the census date of the applicable teaching period.
Students will be notified of the outcome of their fee payment extension via email to their Monash student account.
What is an encumbrance?
An encumbrance is a block we place on your access to University services when:
- fees or fines are unpaid
- a faculty excludes you.
- you fail to complete your compulsory module/s.
This encumbrance means you lose access to:
- Moodle, e-Assessment platforms and other Monash University computer accounts
- library services
- enrolment records, examination results and academic transcripts
- graduation services and being able to graduate.
To lift the encumbrance, you must resolve the issue eg. pay your outstanding fees or complete your compulsory module/s.
Can I apply for a refund for Monash Indonesia tuition fees?
You can apply for a refund online if you have credit on your account. If you are unsure of your credit balance, contact Monash Connect.
You may be able to get a refund if you:
- overpay your course fees
- have a credit for an approved discount on course fees
- change your enrolment (e.g. withdraw from units, discontinue your course) before the census date
You are not eligible for a refund:
- for application, service, other study costs or administrative fees
- before deducting other money you may owe (e.g. library)
- if your enrolment is invalidated for non-payment of fees.
See the Student Fees and Refunds Schedule - Monash University Indonesia for more information.

English Requirements
View
Can I meet the Monash English language requirements without an English test?
Yes, you can. If you have completed your undergraduate qualification at an institution that teaches entirely in English, you might not need to provide further evidence of your English proficiency (E.g. from IELTS/TOEFL/PTE).
For this, you need to have studied in an English medium educational institution equivalent to at least 48 Monash credit points (one year of full-time study) at Australian VET diploma level or higher or equivalent within the last 5 years.
Does evidence of English proficiency have a validity period?
They mostly do. English test results such as IELTS/TOEFL/PTE are valid for three years. An undergraduate qualification at an institution that teaches entirely in English is valid for 5 years.
Do I still need to pass an English test if my English qualification has expired?
No, you do not. If you have resided in an English-speaking country or worked in an English-speaking setting.
However, you must provide evidence in the form of verifiable documentation, such as arrival documents to establish residency, a work reference, etc.
This evidence is individually assessed on a case by case basis. Refer to point 2.2.2 of the Admission to Coursework Courses and Units of Study Procedures for details. Alternatively, if you are invited by your Course Director for an interview, and through the interview the Course Director deems your English proficiency to be sufficient for the course, you will not be required to provide evidence of your English proficiency if the Course Director gives a recommendation to waive your English condition, which is then approved by the Director, Admissions and the Chief Coursework Officer, or by the Chair of the Academic Board.
What happens if I have several measures of English proficiency?
If you have completed several measures of English proficiency over a period of time but not all of them meet the Monash University English language requirement, the highest valid measure will be accepted as long as it has been taken within the required time limitations.
Refer to point 2.2 of the Admission to Coursework Courses and Units of Study Procedures for details.
Are there other tests that Monash accepts apart from the IELTS/TOEFL/PTE test?
Yes there are. Please refer to the English Language Requirement website for the list.
What English language program does Monash offer for entry in Indonesia?
It’s the Monash University English program which is designed for students who have narrowly missed the English language requirements for their degree.
Upon successful completion of the MEB program, you will gain direct entry into a Monash University degree without further testing such as IELTS. Refer to this website for further details.
What is the MEB entry requirement?
- Passing the MEPT (Monash English Placement Test). Note, students are only allowed to sit the MEPT once.
IELTS 6.0 (writing 6.0, no band lower than 5.0) or equivalent. Refer to this website for further details.
What if I don’t meet the MEB entry requirements through accepted English tests?
You can resit for any of the accepted English tests at a later date.
Hopefully you’ll meet the entry into the MEB in the next round. Alternatively, you may consider enrolling into the Monash English program.
