Monash Meanwhile

Monash University is in the early planning stages for the temporary activation of the Caulfield Plaza site, adjacent to our Caulfield campus, that will bring new life and purpose to an underutilised site ahead of long-term redevelopment.

We envision the site as a vibrant, outward-facing hub. Alongside University activities, we foresee that the activation will create new opportunities for the community to engage with the University through publicly accessible live events, cultural partnerships, exhibitions, talks, screenings, and other community-focused initiatives.

High‑level timeline

• Monash has appointed a design team in September 2026 to lead the conceptual design for the temporary activation.
• Design development will continue through 2026.
• Construction is planned to commence in mid 2027.
• Capital works are expected to be completed in late 2028.

Planning for the site is ongoing, and further information will be shared once key milestones are reached and more details become available.
