Campus cohesion

Campus cohesion research program

The research program will investigate the nature and experience of antisemitism, Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian sentiment on Monash campuses to develop practical solutions to support campus cohesion and safety for all students and staff.

  • Student-led research

Students play a crucial role in all our research activities, participating in focus groups, designing surveys, developing recommendations and disseminating outputs.

  • Comprehensive approach

Examine types of discrimination, their effects on student life, reporting barriers, needed bystander support, effective institutional responses, and student-led strategies to address them.

  • Evidence-based recommendations

The  project will combine student ideas with proven approaches to create effective solutions.

Our vision

Our vision is to create inclusive, resilient university spaces through research combining rigorous academic methodology and real-world application. Guided by a diverse advisory board and enriched by expertise across social sciences, law, education, medicine, and computer science, we prioritise student voices at every stage—from research design to actionable recommendations—ensuring that our solutions are academically grounded and directly beneficial to those they impact.
