National Redress Scheme

For students and staff

Monash University voluntarily became a participant in the National Redress Scheme (the Scheme), effective from 30 September 2022.

Our participation is an important step towards enabling and encouraging people who may have experienced abuse to consider applying for redress.

Free and confidential support is available to you if you need help:

About the Scheme

The Scheme was established in 2018 by the Federal Government in response to recommendations by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, which estimated that 60,000 people experienced institutional child sexual abuse in Australia.

Through the Scheme, people who have experienced child sexual abuse can get access to:

Redress is an alternative to seeking compensation through the court system; further details can be found in the National Redress Scheme easy read guides.

At Monash we’re committed to ensuring that our campuses and locations are free from sexual and gender-based violence. As part of our Respect. Now. Always. initiative, we continue to work to achieve a culture that is safe, inclusive and respectful for all. We must support those who have experienced abuse to the best of our ability.
