Vice-Chancellor's Global Campus Executive Committee (GCEC)
Background
The Vice-Chancellor’s Global Campus Executive Committee (GCEC) was created in February 2024 in response to the strategic imperative to elevate, and maximise the potential of, the University’s global network of campuses and presences. GCEC advises the Vice-Chancellor on strategic matters and strategically-relevant operational matters to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of the Monash global network. GCEC is one of two principal management committees advising the Vice-Chancellor. The other one is the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Committee (VCEC).
Terms of reference
The purpose of the GCEC is to elevate and maximise the potential of the University’s global network. To do this it is proposed that GCEC will:
1. Consider strategic matters that primarily concern the global campus network or interactions across Monash’s campus network, and contribute to Monash Group strategic planning;
2. Review and endorse draft international plans and country or area-based plans;
3. Work to align the plans of Monash’s global campuses and presences with each other and with other relevant plans;
4. Identify annual capital and operational budget priorities for the global network;
5. Monitor Monash’s performance against international plans and country or area-based plans;
6. Monitor the progress of major capital projects across the global network;
7. Identify actions to resolve significant operational matters relating to the strategy for or strategic challenges of the University’s global network (especially those that depend upon the authority or advice of the Vice-Chancellor or Provost); and
8. Review the global network’s strategic risk profile, including geostrategic or regulatory risks in the relevant jurisdictions and their impact on the network.

GCEC will meet as determined by the Vice-Chancellor and President. Initially, meetings will be at 4-6 weekly intervals.
