We want every student to feel welcome and supported at Monash right from the start. That’s why we’re matching every first-year student with a peer mentor from the Faculty of Science to ease their transition to university life and help them build friendships.
Mentoring will take place across the semester with four main sessions:
Beyond this, mentors will check in and offer support at various times. Throughout the program, there will be social events and professional development opportunities for both mentors and mentees to attend.
Become a peer mentor and help guide new students from your faculty as they transition to university and settle into Monash.
As a mentor, you’ll share your knowledge and answer questions about adjusting to life at Monash, while gaining important employability skills and opportunities to participate in career development events. You’ll also be able to network with other like-minded student leaders in the program and make a positive impact on others.

Science Student Ambassadors play a key role in the promotion of the Faculty of Science programs and activities to both future and current students. They represent the Faculty at a variety of events including Open Day, information evenings and school visits. They can also represent the faculty through social media and marketing activities.
Being a Science Student Ambassador creates an opportunity for you to develop professional and personal skills; to network with fellow students and get involved with the Faculty of Science community.

If you are passionate about science and aspire to make a difference in the world, the Science Future Leaders Program is for you!
The Science Future Leaders Program has been developed to identify and cultivate the science leaders of the future.
Activities undertaken during the year-long program will assist you in developing a range of skills relevant to leadership in your studies and career. Activities include a residential, a series of leadership seminars and workshops, and the opportunity to practice leadership within the university, your chosen profession, and/or wider community.

Green Steps is an award-winning sustainability leadership program that offers innovative and practical sustainability training and consultancy projects for ambitious emerging leaders.
Green Steps training style is unlike any university course. We encourage engagement, collaboration and above all, a fun approach to learning new skills. The training combines critical inquiry and pragmatic tools with insights from sustainability experts and entrepreneurial practice. It’s highly interactive and is focused on teamwork and group discussion. You’ll be learning from our highly experienced trainers, guest speakers and other participants from a range of study areas.
