Minimum entry requirements

Qualifications

Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) with at least distinction average (70 percent) in 24 points of level three units (or equivalent) in the intended honours discipline.

For students enrolled in a four year program with Honours embedded you must have  completed 144 credit points and all stage 1-3 requirements.

Double degree students: If you are enrolled in a Monash double degree course and have not yet completed the requirements for the two degrees, you may be eligible to enrol in the honours program if you have completed 144 points of study, including all requirements for the Bachelor of Science component.

The level three units upon which admission to the Honours program is based must have been completed no more than five years prior to commencement of the course.

Students must also complete prerequisite study as per the intended discipline. Refer to the honours prerequisites table.

Please note:

  • We encourage students from outside of Monash to apply for Honours at Monash.
  • Check the University undergraduate handbook for level three requirements for your discipline and seek advice from your Honours coordinator and Science Student Services.
  • All applicants, domestic and international, currently at Monash or external to Monash should view the online project information for the relevant Honours discipline (see table above for links) and contact the relevant supervisor and/or School/Department Honours coordinator regarding project availability and internal processes for allocating projects BEFORE commencing the application process.
  • You may also be required to complete an internal school/department project preference form in addition to the online application. Check with the relevant school/department.
  • Offers are made by the Faculty of Science and are subject to eligibility and the availability of suitable supervision and resources.
  • Achievement of the 70% average does not guarantee admission to Honours as in some disciplines there are limited projects available and/or competition for certain projects.
  • Various Honours scholarships are available.
