Why did you decide to study science?
I've wanted to do research in Science since Year 10, so the Bachelor of Science Advanced - Research (Honours) course, which focuses on research and provides access to more research opportunities, sounded like the perfect course for me!
What made you choose Monash Uni in particular?
Monash University offered a course I was interested in that I could get into with the Monash Guarantee. In addition, I knew Monash was a good university with an excellent research output and it was closer to my family than other universities I was considering.
What has been the highlight of your science degree so far?
My research projects! I have been fortunate enough to partake in four research projects during my degree and I have loved every one of them. Each has shown me a different area of research, allowed me to work with different people, and given me valuable skills and knowledge.
What's the biggest misconception you had about studying science before you started your course?
That all the areas of science were separated from each other clearly. In fact, disciplines overlap constantly which makes studying science more interesting!
If you were to give some advice to someone who's thinking about studying at Monash Science, what would you say?
If you like science, give it a go! If you don't like it, you can always transfer. If you love it, then you're at a great university to continue your studies.
Give us a life hack or piece of advice you live by?
Don't rush your studies! University is meant to be enjoyable and getting involved with student life at the expense of finishing your degree later is 100% worth it.
