Why did you decide to study science?
I've been passionate about Pharmaceutical Science and Mathematics since high school, driven by the desire to engage in ground-breaking research and understand world-changing concepts. Monash University attracted me with its diverse Science degree program, allowing me to major in both fields within a condensed three-year period, instead of the standard Double Degree, which takes place over a four-year period. This interdisciplinary approach seemed the perfect fit for my ambitious academic goals.
What made you choose Monash Uni in particular?
Monash University's reputation as a prestigious and global institution first caught my attention. The vibrant community I experienced during O-week solidified my choice. Additionally, receiving a scholarship from Monash was a significant factor, especially considering my financial background. The opportunity to continue my journey with high school friends, who also chose Monash, made it the ideal choice for maintaining and strengthening those valuable connections.
What has been the highlight of your science degree so far?
The highlight of my Science degree has been its flexibility. Initially a Pharmaceutical Science and Mathematics major, I transitioned to Computational Science, thanks to the program's very vast collection of majors. This switch allowed me to explore and refine my academic interests.
What's the biggest misconception you had about studying science before you started your course?
Before starting, I believed that a Science degree strictly explores fields like Biology and Chemistry. This perception changed as I delved into Computational Science and Mathematics at Monash.
If you were to give some advice to someone who's thinking about studying at Monash Science, what would you say?
Choosing Monash Science is a decision you won’t regret. You’ll be part of a globally recognised university that provides students with opportunities and resources. Monash doesn’t just educate; it sets a strong foundation for your future, equipping you with knowledge and employability skills.
Give us a life hack or piece of advice you live by?
Stick up for yourself and never be afraid to make your voice heard.
Do you have a chosen career in mind? If so, what kind of job are you currently aspiring to?
'It is what it is.' Stressing over past mistakes is not helpful; what matters is learning and improving next time. This is how I navigate through both academic and personal challenges.
