Why did you decide to study science?
I decided to study science after attending the National Youth Science Forum, where I was exposed to all the places science can take you. It seemed to be the most applicable and transferable field of study, as well as the most engaging and exciting. Science changes the world!

What made you choose Monash Uni in particular?
I chose Monash University as I really liked the atmosphere. I got a strong sense of community and student engagement and liked that Monash is prestigious, but not elitist. The course I am studying is very unique to Monash as well.

What's your favourite aspect of studying science?
The amount of hands-on and team-based work. I have learnt many skills through interactive study, which I can definitely take with me after graduating. I love teamwork and understand it to be invaluable in the workplace!

What has been the highlight of your science degree so far?
There have been some awesome field trips and some really inspiring lecturers who have taught us really well. I loved the ADS units where we undertake semester long data analysis projects and present our findings at the end.

What's the biggest misconception you had about studying science before you started your course?
It would be completely theory-based, or extremely difficult and competitive. While it is definitely challenging, the engaging teaching style of my lecturers has really helped my experience here.

If you were to give some advice to someone who's thinking about studying at Monash Science, what would you say?
Come on a tour, chat to someone in the course you're interested in and make sure you get all your questions answered and then go for it! I've met so many interesting people who are now friends and have had a great time learning about things I'm passionate about. What more could you ask for?
